Robert Aho is Principal Architect of RA Architect Studios. Having spent his life in the Upper Midwest, largely in Duluth MN, Robert is also a Certified Interior Designer and is trained as a Cultural Anthropologist. He has committed his practice to being culturally responsive, environmentally responsible through sustainability and philosophically organic, or interested in reflecting patterns of nature and the unique qualities of individuals.
The firm was founded in 2005, with the understanding that architecture is so much more than just getting a building built. It is about learning who the client really is and expressing who they are in a very unique way. It is about good building science, site design, healthy living, culture, nature, art, protecting the client’s construction interests and more—all connected in the process of architecture. It is also something that revolves around an organic philosophy that takes all of these things into account without preconceptions. This organic approach to architecture leads to surprising results which exceed the client’s expectations.
